Yevgeny Tkachuk was born into a family of actors on July 23, 1984, in Ashgabat in the Turkmenistan Republic. At the age of 10 he moved with his family to the Russian city of Syzran in Samara Oblast. For six years, while attending elementary and high school, he performed in productions of the Alexei Tolstoy Drama Theatre of Syzran. When he was in the 11th grade he created a theatre circle at his school. Upon finishing school in 2002, he entered the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) to study in Oleg Kudryashov's acting class. After graduating from the institute, he received the Mikhail Tsaryov Award from the Russian Theatre Union. However, he made his professional stage debut in Andrii Zholdak's production of “Phedre. The Golden Colossus” in the role of Hippolytus while he was still in his fourth year at the institute. For this role he was honored with the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper Award for Best Debut in 2006. He performs in other productions at the Theatre of Nations: Nina Sadur's “Bullfinches,” directed by Timofei Sopolyov and Mikhail Chumachenko; and Anton Chekhov's “The Swedish Matchstick,” directed by Nikita Grinshpun. He performs in Andrei Nedelkin's dramatization of Nikolai Gogol's “The Nose” at the Moscow New Generation Theatre (Young Spectator Theatre). His first role in film was as the soldier Andrei in Alexander Sokurov's “Alexander.”
