Irina Barinova
Ever since childhood I have participated in dance, artistic gymnastics, swimming and singing. By the time I entered the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in 2002, I had already worked in the theatre and had spent time as a presenter on television. Basically, everything I had done in the past — with the possible exception of swimming — came in handy while I studied in an experimental class that focused on music and movement.
Singing is especially important for me. I studied jazz vocal for several years and spent 7 years studying classical vocal. I love singing duets, trios and with choirs.
I speak English and Ukrainian fluently, with a little bit of French and German thrown in.
I have been known to engage in horse riding and gymnastics in pairs.
There is a special place in my memory for work I have done with foreign directors: Suleiman Almarzuk of Kuwait, for whom I performed in Chekhovýs The Seagull; and Maria Cannelos of Ecuador, for whom I performed in Maxim Gorkyýs The Lower Depths and Lope de Vegaýs The Waters of Madrid.
