Vladimir Pankov graduated from Oleg Kudryashov's acting course at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in 1999. He is known not only as an actor, but as a director and composer who has written the music for more than 20 productions in Moscow and other cities in Russia. He is the founder and artistic director of the SounDrama Studio and the musical group Pan Quartet.

Working in a complex genre that he defines as “sound drama,” Pankov has directed the following productions:
Alexander Zheleztsov's “Red Thread” at the Playwright and Director Center.
“Passage” at the Playwright and Director Center.
Yelena Isaeva's “Doc.tor” at Teatr.doc.
Mikhail Bulgakov's “Morphine” at the Et Cetera Theatre.

He has composed the music for numerous productions, including:
“The Overcoat,” “Viy” and “The Storm” for director Nina Chusova.
“Plasticene,” “The Sweet Bird of Youth,” “The Petty Bourgeoisie,” and “Playing the Victim” for director Kirill Serebrennikov.
“Boris Godunov” and “Twelfth Night” for director Declan Donnellan.
“Transfer,” “Shocked Tatyana” and “A Number” for director Mikhail Ugarov.
“The Masquerade” for director Vladimir Ageev.
“The Sensation of a Beard” for director Olga Subbotina.
“Mata Hari” for director Garold Strelkov.

Pankov has acted in the films “Yes, Sir!” “The Children of the Arbat” and “The Forest Princess.” He has acted in the theatre productions of “Boris Godunov” and “Twelfth Night,” directed by Declan Donnellan for the International Confederation of Theatre Associations; “Marlene” directed by Gennady Shaposhnikov for the Estrada Theatre; “White Jazz for Two Pierrots” directed by Irina Lychagina for the Theatre of Nations; Mark Weil's production of “Don Juan” and Alexander Ogaryov's production of “Paper Marriage” for the Art-Partner XXI Theatre Agency.

He received the Debut award in 2003 for his vocal compositions for “The Sweet Bird of Youth.”
He received the Chaika (Seagull) award for his music to “Twelfth Night.”
He was awarded Best Composer and Best Supporting Actor awards by the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets for his work in Kirill Serebrennikov's production of “Plasticene.”
He is the recipient of a President?s grant from the Campaign to Support Theatrical Initiatives.
