Sergei Rodyukov
Sergei Rodyukov was born in Novokuznetsk in the Kemerov Oblast in 1968. He has performed on musical instruments since childhood. His first instrument was a bayan (the Russian accordion). In his later grade school years he began playing the guitar.
Sergei's parents are atomic energy specialists and, following graduation from school, Sergei entered the Obninsk Institute of Atomic Energy and matriculated there for three years. However, moved by his love for music, he left the institute and entered the Kursk Musical College where he studied guitar. Here he began to develop an interest in folk music and when he graduated from college, he received two degrees — one as a guitarist and another as a folk choir conductor. In 1996 he entered the Moscow State University of Culture in the department of folk vocals. During his time at the university he attended numerous folk festivals in the villages and towns of the Kursk and Ryazan Oblasts. He performed in various professional and amateur folk music ensembles. He also sang as a chorister in various church choirs in the Moscow diocese. He undertook graduate studies in the department of folk music at the Moscow Conservatory. Sergei is an adept performer on many instruments, including the accordion, balalaika, gusli, pan-pipes, flute and others.
In 1999 Sergei performed with the ethno-pop group Ivan Kupala. It was at this time that he made the acquaintance of Vladimir Pankov. Together with the percussionist Vladimir Nelinov, and, later, the bassist Vladimir Kudryavtsev, they formed the musical group Pan Quartet. Together they have written music for numerous productions mounted in Moscow and other cities in Russia and abroad.
As a musician and as an actor he has performed in the following productions:
